We connect people of the universe

Human progress accelerates whenever the distance between people shrinks. Synter looks for the connections the world still misses.

Our thesis

The closer people become, the faster the world moves. Synter looks for the distances that still separate us and builds services that bring people closer.

Every leap forward shortened a distance

Technology changes the world when it changes who can reach whom. The tools are different; the pattern is the same.

Movement

The carriage extended the reach of a person

People, goods, and ideas could move farther than walking allowed. A larger world became reachable.

Everyday reach

The automobile made distance ordinary

More places, people, and opportunities entered daily life because the journey between them became easier.

Across continents

The airplane compressed the planet

Continents stopped being remote ideas and became places where people could work, visit, and meet.

Information

The internet removed the wait

Information and conversation could cross the world almost instantly, connecting people before they shared a room.

Relationships

Social platforms made connection continuous

Communities, messages, and shared interests brought distant relationships into everyday life.

What comes next

The world is still full of unconnected distance

People live next door, search for the same things, and need one another without knowing how to meet. That is where Synter starts.

See where we started

What is still disconnected?

Connection is not one category. It is the missing path between people who are already closer than they realize.

Watercolor portrait of Oh Myeong sharing Synter’s belief about connection

The world advances fastest when people are brought closer through connection.

The world has moved forward through advances in technology and language. Yet the most explosive changes have come when the distance between people became smaller. Carriages and airplanes narrowed physical distance; the internet, Facebook, and KakaoTalk made connection immediate. Even delivery services are, at their core, businesses that connect one person to another.

But everyday life still contains many gaps. We can live in the same apartment building without knowing who lives next door, while people turn to Naver Cafes, BAND, and Tinder in search of connection. I do not begin with a finished answer. I begin with a question: ‘How could that person and I become a little closer?’
